Biography

Pianist Vedrana Kovač is a remarkable musical personality renown for her emotional, delicate and vivid play. With her sincere playing and beautiful sound, best characterized by the phrase “a piano with vocal chords”, Vedrana gives outstanding recital performances and works with orchestras in music centers in Europe, America and Asia. Vedrana Kovač graduated at the Piotr Iljitch Tchaikovsky State Conservatory of Moscow in the school of the well-known Prof. Lev Naumov, nicknamed as the “Godfather of Russian piano school”. She further developed her play at „Incontri col Maestro“ under the direction of Lazar Berman, Piero Rattalino, Louis Lortie, and cultivated her play in master classes with Vladimir Askenazy, Zoltan Kocsis, Edna Golandsky and Stephen Kovacevich. She continues to deepen her „pianism“ with Prof. Horst Leichtfried, who cultivates the fundaments of piano technique of Theodor Leschetitzky in Vienna. After winning several national piano competitions, she was awarded the Grand Prix in festivals in Russia, was a 1st prize winner of piano competitions in Italy, and she was among the finalists of the prestigious anniversary Gina Bachauer Artists Piano Competition in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. She was invited to festivals such as Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Liszt Festival, Laggo Maggiore Musica, Dubrovnik summer festival, Zagreb baroque evenings, and Split summer festival. On the concert tour in Japan she played in famous halls such as Tokyo Suntory Hall, Osaka Symphony Hall, Minatomirai Hall in Yokohoma, Fukuoka Symphony Hall, Kobe International House, Kumamoto Prefecture Theater. She played at the Theater in Manaus, as a part of the musical program of the World football Championship 2015 and in Claudio Santoro Theater on the occasion of 20th Anniversary of diplomatic relations between Brazil and Croatia. She performed in Bucharest, celebrating Croatian’s entree into the European Union, in the hall of the Athenaeum Roman. Vedrana performed under the baton of Alexandar Rudin, Maxim Fedotov, Igor Stegman, Tomomi Nishimoto, Konstantin Krimets, Ovidiu Balan, George Pehlivanian, Yianis Haidjiloisou, Yuri Tkacenko, Viktor Krasko, Stephan Fraas, Yuri Botnari, Berislav Skenderovic, Louis Malheiro and played with orchestras all over the world such as the Russian Svetlanov State Academic orchestra, Moscow Philharmonics, Brazilian Symphony orchestra, Amazonas Philharmonics, Enescu Philharmonics, Musica Viva, Kyushu Symphony Orchestra, Slovenian Philharmonics, Cyprus Symphony orchestra, Montenegrin strings, or Zagreb chamber orchestra. Her scientific analysis of the performance techniques of great pianists has led to the cooperation with the well-known geophysicist, academician and passionate pianist Evgeniy Artyushkov and will soon be published in the book „The Artistry of the Great Masters“. This work led to the synthesis and creation of an Institute of piano art in Vienna developing students towards musical and poetic experience of the developed principles. She has recorded solo performances as well as with the orchestra and her concerts have been broadcasted on Croatian TV, Culture Channel in Russia, Oasi TV in Italy, Montenegrin TV, Radio Brasilia, and Globo TV. Finally, it adds to her rich artistic scope that Vedrana graduated in Opera repertoire studies from the Vienna Conservatory and performed as a vocal soloist in opera and concert productions in Austria, Brazil, Croatia and Cyprus, which makes her an outstanding multi-talented artist.
